...which is a V8? I have a 1997 Mercedes E420 and have to replace my engine. The E320 is basically the same car but it's has a V6 engine which is cheaper than the V8. Will the V6 engine fit in my E420?

My 1995 E320, exterior markings, (model 124) is registered as an E320 which is an in-line straight six cylinder, fuel injected engine with 3199 cubic centimeter displacement and 217 HP.
The 1997 E420 had several variations: The standard E420 had a V-8 engine with 4196 cubic centimeter displacement and 275 HP. (also shown as model 124)
The V-6 engine should fit in the space where the V-8 used to sit.
