I get a replacement? The display is washed out and does not work at all. The system plays well but you have to guess at what you may be listening to. Are there easy or inexpensive replacements? Does it matter if I use an aftermarket unit? Will the newer sound systems sound as good or better?

You might be able to find a specialty shop that can repair the existing unit. But, often times, it costs as much, or more than replacing the unit.

I would call a dealer to see how much they charge to replace the unit, parts and labor. Then use that as a baseline price for your replacing the unit. i would imagine that you can get a much better unit than the OEM for less than the OEM price.
