they cost about the same......
$100-110k canadian.... with all extras included.
these cars are chosen based on 3 things:
1) LUXURY
2) GOOD to drive in the snow
3) utterly stylish turning heads
which would you choose and WHYYYY??
None of the above. Save some money and get the Motor Trend SUV of the year....Subaru Outback
Who cares if it impresses people as long as it get you where you want to go.

GL550; 5.5-liter V-8 with 13 mpg in the city 18 on the highway
CAYENNE S; 4.8-liter V8 with 14 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway
GL550; 382bhp and 391 lb-ft of torque
CAYENNE S; 385bhp and 369 lb-ft. of torque.
GL550; 0-60 mph time of 6.4 seconds $82,175.
CAYENNE S; 0-60 mph time of 6.4 seconds $81,105.
Id go with the GL550 it does better on track and with 5.5 liter V8 it does pretty good with 13 in city and 18 on highway. With the price almost the same, once again id go with GL 550. But I'd rather have the GL320 BlueTEC diesel that starts at about $25K less. Mercedes also offers another V-8 GL, the GL450, which has a 335-hp, 4.7-liter V-8 with 339 lb-ft of torque and a 0-to-60-mph rating of a still-impressive 6.9 seconds.
