I currently own a red Mercedes 1984 380 SL that is in pretty bad condition and would like to restore it so that i can make it my daily driver. I have no idea where to start, as this is a kind of project my parents are assigning me. The major things that need to be fixed is the upholstery (we have new leather covers, but are missing one piece), the paint job, the audio system, and various small mechanical problems that are typically fixed by a mechanic. I would like to know if there are any particular websites/shops that will sell/fix any of the required parts that I need. I would also like to know what the best way to get the most value for the money, as i've heard that many mechanics/car fixers like to rip women off because they aren't supposed to know as much about cars. if my car has faded paint, and i just want to repaint it the same color to cover up scratches etc, what kind of paint job do i need? and what is the best way to find a cheap place to do it?
