has tape door which flips down.)? Factory-installed unit in Mercedes E320 has the door which flips down for the cassette to be inserted. The door flips down ok but the tape is stuck. The "eject" soft-key which should be displayed in the LCD display does not show up so there is no way to eject using the controls. Is there some sort of release mechanism that can be triggered to eject the cassette?

(By the way, in case you are wondering, I don't need the cassette player but use it as an iPod input. And the stereo is hooked into my car phone nicely so I don't want to nuke the unit, I just want to remove the tape...)

Why do you still have a tape deck? Take it to a install shop and get the player replaced with a CD player or better yet a DVD player. While they are at it, they can recover the tape for you from the old one.

I would think there is some way on the back of the deck to take out the tape manually....but you might have to remove the whole player to get it out....does the tape mean that much to you...why don't you just buy the CD or download the music?
