I'm not talking off road here but we get a ok amount of snow in Ottawa, ON Canada and since they don't always plow right away on some streets, I don't want to get stuck.

hi,
the B-class (200CDI with CVT transmission) is doing well in the snow. ABS, ESP and traction control work fine. Traction is good enough up to 42% incline (never tried steeper). Of course quality of your tyres is biggest parameter (I use Dunlop SP wintersport 3D - 205/55 x 16 in winter).
Car has tendency to understeer of course, but otherwise fairly easy to handle on slippery roads.
You must be aware of the poor ground clearance though: especially in fresh snow you may start plowing when more then 20 cm of snow!

incline must be 14 % of course!!
