Hello all

Just wondering if anyone can advise on what could be the reason behind a slowish A Class and over consuming?

It seems like when i accelerate the car doesnt pick the right speed and take a few seconds before reaching a momentum.
Also it is consuming a lot of petrol????


I am told by the local mechanic that it could be the gearbox filter and oil which need renewing?

I personally doubt it but who knows, I am no Merc mechanic...:)

Is F displayed on the dash? if so then there is a fault with the gearbox, common failure is the control unit inside the gearbox £1000 roughly just for the part.
They can be repaired for less than half that price, new gearboxes fitted are roughly £3500
