Has anyone else experienced such problems with their automatic gearboxes on E class Mercedes. I cant believe it has gone again. The car has done 85000 miles, is mainly used in town and currently only does about 7000 miles a year. Thankfully the gearbox is still under warranty. The symptoms are a tugging on the gears, biting, and juddering - I know its the gear box, the symptoms are exactly the same as before although MB said there is nothing wrong with it last week! (they don't want to pay for another gearbox)

I would be interested in any similar experiences and advice as Mercedes clearly have not got a clue!

Thanks

Nick

id suspect the driver first and the box second. too coincidentle for 2 boxes to fail in a year unless they are being abused or not used correctly

MB dont want to pay for another gearbox so get advice from consumer direct -- a free service-- find through google. If consumer direct cannot get a result they can refer it to trading standards.

Once MB know that you are using these official channels they might be a bit keener to sort out the problem!

Goods are supposed to be fit for the purpose they have been supplied for. Clearly the gearbox fails this test.

MB may not have a clue but they wont want any hassle from trading standards!
