I have a 1994 Mercedes c200 which has been brilliant. However over the last couple of weeks, the engine has begun to cut out without warning. While it usually restarts and is okay afterwards, yesterday it did it while driving at speed downhill and left me without breaks or steering. Fortunately I was able to get onto the hard shoulder and stop the car but it was an experience I don't want to repeat!! As the car is very old and probably worth very little, I would like some idea as to why this might be happening and whether it is worth repairing.
