1986 190E 2.3 HAVE BROKEN 2 SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER BREAKING AJUSTER ROD COLLAR WHILE WHILE TRYING TO ADJUST BELT TIGHT. I WOILD HAVE THOUGHT THE ROD SOMETHING. BEFPRE BREAKING THE CAST METAL COLLAR WOULD HAVE BENT FIRST OT
broke the first collar with the old belt. went to the dealer got the second adjusting rod/collar and also bought a new belt. be honest don't beleive it was close to being tight enough. put the tensioner in a vise and the shaft the collar attach's had no "spring" movement. not able to twist it to return to orignal spot. i've ordered a new tenioner kit. going through search's on the web last night ran across someone with the exact same problem. no luck with any repleys on the final repair.
