original insurance est was $6800.00? it took a side impact from the passenger front wheel (middle) to the rear door. The dealer said that they are having a difficult time with the alignment and the vehicle is still pulling to the left.. The current price for the repair is over $20,000 What can I do to compel the dealer or my insurance to total this vehicle... I feel like the vehicle will have probles in the future because it has been in the shop for soooo long??

Dont know what insurance company you are with, but I have Allstate. The initial estimate was made my Allstate, and they ALWAYS quote the lowest price possible. You can take this amount and pocket it, but if you bring to a shop with a higher estimate, you need to call the insurance adjuster to come to the shop and most likely, they will match the shop's estimate and write a check right there.

My car has hail damage that Allstate estimated at less than $1000. The shop's estimate was $3400 and they didn't disagree and wrote a check right there.

its in the shop long cause they are trying to get it right. if you want they can hand it back to you now while its wrong.

any side impact is a hard fix as so many items get destroyed in the process.

plus you have to remember....these guys are trying to put the car back within a tollerance of 2 millimeters from factory condition. remember how your car looked and then think of how hard it would be to make it back to perfect within 2 milimeters.

give the guys a break, they are doing the best they can, its a hard job.

if you are this worried about it all, trade it in when you get it back.

I would get ahold of your insurance company and have them reach an agreement with the repair shop. and if you have problems with the repairs in the near future, the shop should be reliable to fix it free of charge, if they had to mess with it and it goes bad, its their fault.
