All passenger vehicles are, by law, required to come with some sort of spare tire. That includes full-size and collapsible spares. You don't see too many collapsibles anymore, though. They were mostly phased out in the seventies due to how how horribly unreliable they were.

I am not sure, I think cars that don't have a spare are required to roll on run-flat tires. Run flats are ok but I also hear they wear out faster.
